Melissa has been practicing yoga for over 16 years and an instructor for 15 years.  She first was trained at the Bija Ananda Yoga School in New Hampshire in 2001 receiving her RYT 200.  Her interest in pursuing more advanced trainings led her to certifications in prenatal, restorative, Yin, Vinyasa yoga and ultimately to a 500 hour training with the Himalaya Institute.  During this training she travelled with her instructors to India for immersion into not only the greater depths of the yogic experience but also into the Indian culture from which it has blossomed.

Yoga is more than just a physical practice for Melissa, it’s a practice of awareness.  While for her and many of her students yoga begins as a physical challenge.  Her goal is to encourage and facilitate a deeper awareness of the practitioner’s Authentic self through yoga.  She has given the name “Satya” Yoga Studio to her studio in Plymouth, New Hampshire as it translates to “Truthfulness.”  She hopes all that attend her classes will deepen their awareness and uncover their own truth both on and off the mat.
